MADISON, Wis. – Marian University men’s volleyball (13-9, 6-4 NACC) defeated Edgewood in straight sets 26-24, 25-23, and 25-23.

  • Marian never trailed in the opening set and a small 4-0 run gave the Sabres a small 14-9 advantage.
  • The Sabres took that lead out to 24-21 but the Eagles were able to fight off three set-point opportunities to tie the set at 24-24.
  • Marian bounced back nicely, however, scoring two straight points to take the opening set.
  • Neither team managed a lead larger than three points in the second set.
  • Edgewood held a 23-22 lead late in the set before Marian had a strong finish to the set taking the final three points to go up 2-0.
  • The Eagles showed urgency to open the third set taking a slim 11-8 lead.
  • Edgewood took its lead out to 19-18 before Marian used a 5-1 run to take a 23-20 edge.
  • The Sabres were able to hold off a late rally from Edgewood to secure its ninth sweep of the year.
  • Marian finished with a 46-36 advantage in kills and hit .359 for the match.
  • The Sabres had at least 13 kills in each set.
  • The Marian defense held a slim 31-29 edge in digs.
  • Marian has swept the Eagles in all three meetings of the all-time series.
