Marian University men’s soccer (3-8-4, 1-7-4 NACC) closed out the season with a 2-2 tie against Edgewood.

  • The Sabres were able to start quickly when senior Isak Olsson scored his first goal of the game just 1:27 in. Olsson was able to drill it under the crossbar after a corner kick, assist to fellow senior Drew Cowden.
  • The remainder of the first half was back-and-forth between the two squads.
  • Sophomore Nathan Blazenko gave Marian a 2-0 lead with 1:47 until halftime when a bicycle kick found the back of the net, assist to Olsson.
  • Edgewood would draw a free kick with just two seconds left narrowly outside of the box. The Eagles would cut the Marian lead in half off the free kick after the shot hit the crossbar and slid in.
  • The Eagles then knotted the game in the 67th minute with an equalizing goal that also hit the crossbar and slid in.
  • Marian created several quality opportunities over the final 23 minutes including two shots that were saved by Eagle defenseman and a corner kick from senior Logan Holevas that hit the crossbar.
  • Neither team would break the stalemate, however, leading to the 2-2 draw.
  • Edgewood finished with an 18-13 lead in shots with a slim 8-7 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Eagles also had a slim margin in corner kicks at 8-6.
  • Marian now has a four-match unbeaten streak in the all-time series against Edgewood.
