Marian University men’s lacrosse (4-1, 0-0 NACC) opened a three-game homestand defeating Northland 9-6.
- Marian got out to a slow start as Northland was able to score four the of the first five goals.
- Freshman Connor Fitzgerald had a man-up goal as the lone Sabre score.
- Marian then scored five unanswered goals in a span of 3:16 to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
- The Sabres opened the third quarter with the first two goals to build its lead out to 8-4.
- The rest of the second half proved to be a defensive battle with Marian managing to hold on for a 9-6 win.
- Marian outshot the LumberJacks 61-31 for the game.
- The Sabres held a 62-32 advantage in ground balls.
- Each team had 29 clear opportunities with Marian converting 21 of its chances and Northland 18.
- Marian went 2-for-3 (.667) on extra-man chances, while the LumberJacks were only 2-of-6 (.333).
- The Sabres won 11 of the 19 faceoffs in the victory.
- Marian is now 3-0 all-time against Northland.
- The Sabres will travel to Northland to close out the season series Tuesday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
