AURORA, Ill. – Marian University men’s basketball (14-7, 10-6 NACC) won their third straight game defeating Aurora 75-58.

Marian had a fast start but after Aurora responded the Sabres found themselves ahead just 9-8.  The Sabres then put together another extended run outscoring the Spartans 20-5 to take a 29-13 lead with 10:53 left in the half.  Marian would have another 8-3 spurt only to have a 10-2 Aurora lead cut the Marian lead down to 44-30 heading into the break.

The Sabres shot 17-of-32 (.531) in the first 20 minutes of the game and forced 12 Aurora turnovers.

A hot start to the second half allowed Marian to pull away and cruise to the win.  Marian was able to outscore Aurora 15-5 in the first 5:39 of the second half to build a 24-point lead, their largest of the game.  The Sabres were then able to cruise to the 75-58 final.

Marian finished the game shooting 28-of-54 (.519) from the field with nine made three pointers.  The Sabres were also able to outscore Aurora 22-11 in points off of turnovers.

Senior David Britton led the way with a game-high 24 points, while sophomore Delvin Barnstable had 16 points to go with eight boards.  Junior Tyler Gouin had a solid night scoring 10 points with six assists.

Marian hosts Rockford in their final home game of the regular season at 7 p.m. Monday, February 14.
