Marian University men’s hockey (2-3-1, 1-2-1-0 NCHA) scored a pair of power-play goals and defeated CUW 4-2 for their first win in NCHA action.

The Sabres and Falcons traded power-play scores to open the game with junior Nick Lund scoring 8:27 into the opening period.  Seniors Parker Colley and Troy Ring each earned an assist, but CUW was able to respond just 1:11 later to tie the game.  Senior Gianni Vitali gave Marian the lead for good at the 10:05 mark with a goal from the high slot, assist to freshman Matteo Pecchia.

Marian then dominated in the second period outshooting the Falcons 18-11 and scoring another pair of goals.  Freshman Alex Rondeau tallied his second goal in as many games with a power-play score at the 5:46 mark, assists to freshman Nick Cherkowski and junior Jack Sampson.  Sophomore Mason Richey then lit the lamp with 4:25 left in the period, assists to Colley and sophomore Ty Mosimann, to conclude the Marian scoring.  Concordia Wisconsin was able to tally a goal in the final minutes of the third period to set the final at 4-2.

The Sabres finished with a 38-30 advantage in shots with three skaters recording five shots.  Junior Colby Muise (2-3-1) continued to play well making 28 saves after a strong relief appearance in the opener of the series.

Marian travels to Crystal Lake, Ill. Tuesday, Nov. 23 for a 7 p.m. neutral site match-up with UW-Superior.
