Marian University men’s hockey (8-12-3, 3-10-2-1 NCHA) finished off a perfect weekend against Finlandia defeating the Lions 5-0.

The opening period saw no scoring but freshman Jordan Simoneau opened the scoring at the 4:56 mark of the second with a power-play score.  Fellow freshman Alex Rondeau and junior Jack Sampson each earned an assist.  Sampson then put the Sabres ahead 2-0 with 1:27 left in the period with assists to Simoneau and senior Blaine Caton.

Caton lit the lamp himself to open the scoring for the third period with a power-play score, assists to senior Gianni Vitali and Sampson.  Another power-play goal from Simoneau saw Marian take a 4-0 lead with 3:04 left to play, assists to Caton and senior Troy Ring.  Senior TJ Delaney would round out the scoring for the game in the final minute with his first score as a Sabre, assist to senior Parker Colley and Ring.

Marian dominated from start to finish outshooting Finlandia 53-12 for the game.  Junior Colby Muise (7-11-3) was up to the task on all 12 shots to record his second straight shutout.

Marian plays their final home game of the season hosting Lake Forest Friday, February 11 for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
