ROCKFORD, Ill. – Marian University men’s bowling opened the season with a third-place finish at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite.
The Sabres had a strong showing on the opening day of competition finishing second after recording 5,019 in traditional play. The Sabres trailed just Calumet College of St. Joseph who scored 5,187. Ryan Dreikosen led the Sabres averaging 214 over his five games and had three games with more than 220 pins. Not far behind was Rylee Schwartz who averaged 213.6 over five games and scored over 200 in four of five games.
Will Rouech opened his five games with a pair of performances above 200 and finished with a 192.4 average, while Evan Rae averaged 191.2 over five games and finished strong with a 205.
Marian had a slow start to Baker play on day two and finished with a 189.9 average over 20 games to finish the invite in third. The Sabres had a strong stretch from game seven to 14 where Marian recorded over 200 in seven of those eight games. A 225 in game nine proved to be the highest game total for the Sabres.
Dreikosen and Schwartz were each named to the All-Tournament team after finishing second and third, respectively, on the individual leaderboard.
Marian next travels to the Midwest Classic Oct. 1-2.
