Marian University men’s basketball (10-5, 6-4 NACC) dominated Illinois Tech 86-52 to earn their seventh win in eight games.
Marian never trailed and jumped out in front scoring the first seven points of the game to set the tone for the day. The Sabres took their lead out to 17-12 before using a 17-2 run to take a commanding 34-14 advantage with 1:05 left in the half. Marian eventually took a 37-18 lead into halftime.
A 16-6 spurt early in the second half showed that the Sabres were not going to let the Scarlet Hawks back into the game. Another 15-2 run at the midway point of the half allowed the Sabres to hold a 76-37 lead and 7:08 left to play, their largest lead of the game. Marian would cruise the rest of the way leading to an 86-52 final.
The Sabres dominated in the paint outscoring the Scarlet Hawks 40-20 and had 17 second chance points.
Senior David Britton hit seven three-pointers to score a game-high 31 points, while sophomore Delvin Barnstable chipped in 24 poitns. Barnstable and junior Tyler Gouin each grabbed seven rebounds.
Marian hosts Concordia Wisconsin Wednesday, January 26 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
