Marian University men’s basketball (9-5, 5-4 NACC) outscored Lakeland 47-24 in the second half to defeat the Muskies 75-59.

The Sabres trailed the entire first half as the Lakeland defense played a major factor in the opening stanza.  The Muskies would lead by as much as 14 at 35-21 with 1:18 left before halftime.  Marian then made a move in the final minute scoring seven unanswered points to cut their deficit down to 35-28 heading into the break.  Lakeland forced nine Marian turnovers and held the Sabres to 8-of-24 (.333) shooting for the half.

Lakeland was able to open the second half extending their advantage back out to nine points before Marian scored eight unanswered to trail just 40-39 with 16:06 left on the clock.  The Muskies were able to lead 49-48 before a three-pointer from sophomore Delvin Barnstable gave the Sabres their first lead of the game with 11:11 to play.  The triple from Barnstable was the beginning of a 20-5 Marian run that saw Marian build their lead to 68-54 and 3:14 left to play.  The Sabres led by as much as 18 with a late bucket from Lakeland setting the final at 75-59.

Marian finished shooting 46.6-percent from the field including 9-of-21 (.429) from three-point land.  Barnstable once again filled up the stat sheet scoring a game-high 20 points to go with six boards adn a pair of assists.  Senior David Britton and junior Tyler Gouin each chipped in 14 points with Britton also recording six assists.  Senior Scott Paulus had a big night in the post recording a team-high seven rebounds with three assists, three steals, and two blocks.
