Marian University men’s basketball (12-7, 8-6 NACC) took care of business at home defeating Edgewood 88-72.

Edgewood opened with a small 9-8 lead before Marian went on an 11-4 run to take a 19-13 advantage.  A 12-2 spurt from the Sabres shortly after saw Marian build their lead out to 38-23 with 5:38 left in the opening half.  The Sabres were able to then cruise into the locker room with a 46-30 lead.

Marian came out shooting to open the second half building their lead out to 22 to start at 59-37.  Edgewood would use a 13-4 run to tighten the game at 63-50 with 13:08 left to play, but Marian had a response.  The Sabres were able to immediately score 10 unanswered to widen their lead again at 73-50 with 7:47 left to play.  The Marian advantage was able to balloon to as large as 27 points before the final score was settled at 88-72.

Marian shot 35-of-72 (.486) from the field with 12-of-27 (.444) shooting coming from three-point land.  Sophomore Delvin Barnstable led the way for Marian with a game-high 22 points to go with five boards and three assists.  Senior Nick Brakebush shot 6-of-8 (.750) from the field and hit all four three-pointers he attempted to add 18 points off the bench.  Three Sabres had at least four assists in the victory led by senior David Britton who dished out five helpers.

Marian remains home to host MSOE Wednesday, February 9 for a 7 p.m. tip.
