SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Marian University baseball (5-9, 1-3 NACC) defeated Dominican 7-2 before falling to the Stars 6-1.

Marian served as the home team for both games as the twin bill was originally scheduled to be played at Herr-Baker Field.

Dominican struck first in the top of the fourth inning but Marian immediately responded in the next half inning.  Senior Jeremy Laffoon drove in a run to tie the game before junior Dylan Pease hit a double to put Marian ahead 3-1.

Marian tacked on in the fifth when sophomore Riley Palmquist hit a sacrifice fly and sophomore Robbie Knorr hit a triple to plate a pair of runs.  A double from graduate student Sean Meyer in the sixth then put Marian ahead 7-1.  Dominican would plate one in the seventh but that would be the final run of the game for either squad.

Five different student-athletes had multi-hit games led by Laffoon who went 3-for-4 with a run driven in and two scored.  Senior Jonah Landowski (3-0) went 7.0 innings striking out 10 to earn the win with senior Mac Doherty tossing the final 2.0 innings without allowing a hit.

Game two saw the Stars strike first plating three runs in the first two innings.  A single from Meyer cut the Sabre deficit down to 3-1 after three but this would be all the Marian offense could muster in a 6-1 loss.

Marian was held to just three hits with two of those knocks coming from Meyer.  Sophomore Connor Medvecz provided a strong relief appearance going the final 2.2 innings only allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

Marian hits the road for Ripon Thursday, April 7 to take on the Red Hawks in a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
