After a gritty come-from-behind 3-2 victory the night before, Marian University ACHA D2 (9-3-1, 6-1-0 NCHL) swept UW-Oshkosh with a 5-1 victory at home.
The two squads combined for 58 penalty minutes in the game with five of the six goals being power-play tallies. Simon Ellingson opened the scoring with an extra-man goal at the 2:16 mark, assists to DJ Horne and Karl Lavoie. Horne then lit the lamp with an assist to Connor Rosaasen 2:10 later. The Titans would cut the Marian deficit in half to trail just 2-1 going into the first intermission.
Three Marian power-play goals made up the third period as Marian was able to create breathing room. Brendan Chubaty opened the scoring at the 3:50 mark with Ellingson scoring his second of the game just 20 seconds later. Lavoie would light the lamp at the 7:49 mark for what would be the final goal of the game, assists to Tyler Studant and Horne.
The Sabres finished with a 46-27 edge in shots with Matt Bilsborough earning the victory between the pipes for the Sabres with 26 saves.
Marian travels to Iowa State January 28-29 for a pair of non-conference games.
