A strong third period saw No. 2 Adrian defeat Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (0-3-0, 0-1-0-0 NCHA) 5-1 in its home opener.

  • The Sabres were able to find the back of the net first when senior Alex Rondeau scored a power-play goal with 4:25 left in the period. Fellow senior Ty Mosimann earned an assist on the goal.
  • Adrian was able to find an equalizer with just 27 seconds remaining to send the game into the first intermission knotted at 1-1.
  • The Bulldogs were able to score just 3:44 into the second period to take its first lead of the game.
  • The final stanza saw Adrian score three goals, two on the power play, to defeat Marian 5-1.
  • Marian was outshot for the first time this season by a 35-30 margin. Shots were even after two periods at 24-24.
  • The Sabres committed seven penalties allowing two power-play goals, while Adrian had a pair of penalties allowing one Sabre power-play score.
  • Faceoffs were fairly even with Adrian winning 31 to 29 for Marian.
  • Adrian has now won two straight against Marian and seven of the last eight match-ups.
