TUCSON, Ariz. – Marian University baseball (1-4, 0-0 NACC) led going into the bottom of the eighth but a big frame from Carthage lifted the Red Men past the Sabres 13-10.

Carthage was able to plate one run in the first four innings but Marian was able to hold the lead after a five-run third inning.  Senior Jake Arens drove in a pair with a single to open the scoring for the Sabres before a double from freshman Ty Enns cleared the bases.

Marian padded their lead in the fifth scoring a pair to go ahead 7-4.  Freshman Riley Palmquist doubled to bring in junior Jonah Landowski before junior Alex Behr brought in Palmquist with a single.  Carthage was able to cut their deficit down to one with a pair of runs in the seventh inning.  The Red Men then broke through in the eighth inning with seven runs to retake the lead at 13-7.

The Sabres were able to put together a rally in the top of the ninth plating three runs but would fall 13-10.  Enns drove in another run while fellow freshman Luke Fiantago also had an RBI after a sacrifice fly.

Junior Nick Dugandzic paced the offense going 3-for-5 with a run scored.  Arens, Enns, and Palmquist all had multi-hit games as well with Enns driving in four runs.

Marian takes on Bethany Lutheran in a doubleheader Wednesday, March 11 with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. (CDT).
