Marian University women’s soccer (4-7-1, 4-4-0 NACC) scored two goals in the final seven minutes to defeat Concordia Chicago 3-2 at home.

The Cougars were able to find the back of the net in the first 10 minutes to take the first lead of the game.  Marian was able to bounce back when junior Ashley Welk fed junior Allison Fought for her second goal of the season at the 23:49 mark.

The Fought goal sent the two squads into the break tied at one with the Sabres outshooting CUC 8-3 for the stanza.

Concordia Chicago was able to strike first to open the second half as well with a goal 7:28 in.  Marian continued to dominate possession but couldn’t find the back of the net until the 84th minute.  Junior Megan Harbeck was able to send in a cross that found the head of senior Shannon Coughlin and trickled into the back of the net to tie the game with just 6:08 left.  Then with just 2:27 remaining, Marian continued to push and were able to force an own goal from CUC to earn the win.

The Sabres finished with an 18-6 edge in shots led by Welk who had nine shots, eight of which were on target.  Senior Kylie Lange (1-2-0) was able to earn her first victory of the season making one save.

Marian opens their final road trip of the season playing at Concordia Wisconsin Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m.
