MEQUON, Wis. – Marian University women’s hockey (2-8-2, 1-3-0-2 NCHA) almost rallied from a three-goal deficit only to fall at CUW 3-2.

The Falcons opened the scoring with just 2:43 left in the opening period and then added to their lead in the second period scoring at the 13:16 mark.  CUW saw their lead increase to 3-0 just 1:08 into the final stanza before Marian was able to rally.

Just 1:03 later, sophomore Brynn Weaver was able to light the lamp with assists to freshman Hailie Hefel and junior Rheanne Peigan.  Junior Brooke Anderson then put the Sabres down just one at the 8:47 with a goal that was assisted by junior Kristen Bisschop.  Marian was unable to find the equalizer goal, however, falling 3-2 on the road in the non-conference game.

The Sabres were outshot 44-27 with Anderson and sophomore Bailey Williams each recording four shots.  Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (2-8-2) would make 41 stops in the defeat, her sixth performance this season with at least 40 saves.

Marian continues their non-conference stretch hosting Northland for a two-game series January 14-15.
