Marian University has named Dr. Daisy Halvorson as its next Vice President for Finance & Administration, effective January 5, 2022.

“Marian University emanates grace in supporting the educational mission and values of the Sisters of St. Agnes, and I am grateful to be chosen as part of the team to help guide the financial stewardship and continued success of the University” said Halvorson.

With 20 years of serving in higher education, Halvorson is fiscally-minded and brings passion for achieving goals, budget management, and innovative new ideas. Most recently, Halvorson held the position of Vice President for Finance & Administration at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD. As a proven leader, she taught the accounting staff about the uniqueness of non-profit accounting, developed a budget to ensure positive cash flow, and worked to develop an IT staff. Halvorson has held similar roles at Briar Cliff University in Iowa, Clarke University in Iowa, and Mount Marty College in South Dakota.

“Dr. Halvorson’s background in higher education will help Marian University as we continue to position ourselves for financial strength,” said Marian University President Dr. Michelle Majewski. “The skills and knowledge that she brings to this position will support Marian’s vision to preserve mission-driven financial security while enhancing a reputation for providing affordable education, and we look forward to incorporating her ideas into our future growth plan.”

Halvorson earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1996 and a master’s in Business Administration in 2001, both from the University of South Dakota. In 2017, she earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
