ROCKFORD, Ill. – Marian University men’s volleyball (9-2,1-0 NACC) swept Rockford in its NACC season opener 25-14, 25-20, 25-21.

  • Marian opened up set one on a dominant 7-0 run to start the afternoon.
  • The two teams would trade points with an even 5-5 run to take the score to 12-5.
  • The Sabres would go on a 6-4 run to extends its lead to double-digits.
  • Marian would close out set one with a slim 7-6 advantage.
  • Set two saw the Sabres get out to another early lead with a 6-1 run.
  • The Regents were able to tie things up and take its first lead behind a 8-2 run.
  • The Sabres would regain and extend its lead with a 6-3 run.
  • Rockford would keep things close but Marian held a 5-2 run and would hold the lead the remainder of set two with a slim 5-4 advantage.
  • A similar script of the Sabres taking an early lead continued in set three as Marian got out on a 6-2 advantage.
  • Rockford answered by bringing the score within two behind a 8-6 run before the Sabres answered with a 4-2 run.
  • The Regents were able to make things interesting by taking the lead 21-20 behind an 11-8 run.
  • Marian would close out set three and the match on a 5-0 run.
  • Marian had a balanced attack and held the advantage in kills 42-28 behind .286 hitting.
