AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Marian University baseball (2-2, 0-0 NACC) defeated Medaille 17-1 in seven innings and Illinois College 11-5.

GAME 1

  • Marian scored in the first inning for a third straight game and put up 10 runs in the fourth inning to pull away from Medaille.
  • Senior Brady Zackrison opened the scoring in the first inning and Marian added to its lead with three runs in the third.
  • Medaille responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth before the Sabres broke the game open.
  • The Sabres were able to score 10 runs on five hits in the top of the fourth with senior Dylan Pease and junior Riley Palmquist driving in multiple runs.
  • The sixth inning saw sophomore Andrew Schroeder drive in two runs and fellow sophomore Gus Walker closed out the scoring with a run-producing double in the seventh.

GAME 2

  • The Sabres faced an early deficit against IC but another big inning in the fifth allowed Marian to rally.
  • Illinois College led 4-1 after three innings with Schroeder driving in the lone Marian run with a sacrifice fly.
  • Schroeder brought in another run in the fourth only to have the Blue Boys respond with a run of their own to put the score at 5-2.
  • Graduate student Jonah Landowski opened the fifth inning with his second home run to spark plug a seven-run inning.
  • Junior Logan Rademan drove in a pair of runs to highlight the inning that put Marian ahead 9-5.
  • Palmquist added to the Marian lead with his first home run in the sixth and Zackrison put Marian ahead 11-5 after seven innings.
  • The Marian bullpen didn’t allow a hit in the final four innings to seal the win and the top six hitters in the lineup had multiple hits for the game.
