Marian University men’s basketball (14-10, 12-4 NACC) closed out the regular season falling to North Central College 79-57.

  • Marian only trailed 11-10 in the opening minutes before the Cardinals scored eight unanswered to take a nine-point lead.
  • Marian was able to battle back and cut the deficit down to 33-31 with 3:37 left until half.
  • The Cardinals were able to close out the half strong scoring seven unanswered to go up 40-31 at the break.
  • The Sabres opened the second half cutting the deficit down once again to 43-37.
  • NCC responded using a 23-6 spurt to lead 66-43 and pull away with 9:26 left to play.
  • Marian went 23-of-56 (.411) from the field and 8-of-28 (.286) from beyond the arc.
  • NCC was 27-of-54 (.500) from the field and went 7-of-21 (.333) on three-pointers. The Cardinals also shot 18-of-19 (.947) at the charity stripe.
  • The Cardinals held a 40-16 advantage in the paint and outscored Marian 21-11 on second-chance points.
  • Marian will now host the opening round of the NACC Tournament Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. The Sabre opponent will be determined by results from NACC play Saturday, February 18.
