HANCOCK, Mich. – Marian University women’s ice hockey (8-14-1, 4-9-0-1 NCHA) completed a sweep of Finlandia with a 3-0 shutout.
- The Sabres wasted no time finding the back of the net scoring just 18 seconds in with senior Alyssa Heim lighting the lamp from sophomore Allie Kieffer and junior Brynn Weaver.
- This proved to be the lone score for the first period as Marian went into the second ahead 1-0.
- Senior Melodee Eastman gave Marian a multi-goal lead 4:55 into the second period with an assist from senior Kristen Bisschop.
- A short-handed goal from senior Brooke Anderson proved to be the final goal at the 7:21 mark of the second period.
- Marian finished with a 52-22 advantage in shots outshooting the Lions in all three periods.
- Neither team scored a power-play goal with Finlandia having five chances and Marian having three opportunities.
- The Sabres won 41 of the 60 faceoffs in the game.
- The shutout was the first this season for Marian.
- With the win, Marian moved into sixth in the NCHA standings and can finish no lower than seventh.
