Marian University men’s volleyball (5-4, 0-0 NACC) swept Bryant & Stratton in an exhibition match before earning another sweep defeating Mount St. Joesph.
MARIAN VS. BRYANT & STRATTON
- Bryant & Stratton had no answer for Marian in the opening match of the day with the Sabres defeating the Bobcats 25-11, 25-15, and 25-23.
- The Sabres opened the match with a 14-5 run and easily took care of business.
- Marian opened the second set ahead 11-7 only to have the Bobcats cut that lead down to 15-12.
- The Sabres responded closing the match with a 10-3 spurt.
- After Marian took a 10-7 lead in the third, Bryant & Stratton scored seven unanswered points to go ahead 14-10.
- The Bobcats were able to take this lead out to 23-21 forcing a Marian timeout.
- The Sabres then scored four unanswered points to close out the match.
MARIAN VS. MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
- The Sabre offense just kept on rolling in match two defeating the Lions 25-13, 25-12, and 25-18.
- Marian took an early 10-8 lead to open the match before going on a 6-1 run to build a seven points advantage.
- The Sabres were able to close out the opening set with five consecutive points.
- Marian then opened the second set with a slim 9-7 advantage but an 8-1 spurt allowed Marian to pull away.
- Another four unanswered points helped give Marian a 2-0 advantage.
- The third set was no different as the Lions only trailed 11-10 before Marian pulled ahead with a 10-3 run.
MARIAN VS. BRYANT & STRATTON
- The Sabres hit .364 for the match with at least 10 kills in all three sets.
- On the defensive end, Marian recorded 10 blocks and held the Bobcats to a -.013 hitting percentage.
MARIAN VS. MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
- Marian had 11 kills in all three sets finishing with a .324 attack percentage.
- The defense once again performed strongly as well holding MSJ to a -.059 hitting percentage.
