CHICAGO / FOND DU LAC – Marian University ACHA D2 (9-11-1, 2-4-0 NCHL) fell 7-4 at DePaul before splitting the series with a 5-4 win at home.

GAME 1

  • The Sabres were able to get out to a strong start scoring a pair of goals in the first 5:39 of the game. Colby Sherlock and Carter Broton were the goal scorers for Marian.
  • DePaul responded in a big way scoring six unanswered goals between the first and second period.
  • Devon Butler scored in the final 1:22 of the second period to cut the Sabre deficit down to 6-3 going into the final period.
  • DePaul was able to open the scoring in the final period and Simon Ellingson would light the lamp for Marian to put the final at 7-4.

GAME 2

  • Another quick start saw Marian score four goals in the opening period, one on the power play, as the Sabres were able to build a 4-1 advantage.
  • DePaul once again had an answer scoring three goals in the second period.
  • Simon Ellingson would light the lamp in the second period as well for what proved to be the game-winner.
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third period.

GAME 1

  • There was no lack of offense with DePaul holding a slim margin in shots at 56-54.
  • DePaul scored on four of its seven power-play opportunities, while Marian was scoreless on four chances.
  • The Sabres outshot DePaul in two of the three periods.

GAME 2

  • Marian held DePaul to single-digit shots in all three periods and finished with a 37-22 advantage in shots.
  • Each team had one power-play goal on four chances.
