ANGOLA, Ind. – Marian University men’s volleyball (1-2, 0-0 NACC) was defeated by Baldwin Wallace in straight sets and fell to Stevenson in five sets.

  • The opening match of the day saw Marian take on host Baldwin Wallace with the Sabres falling 26-24, 32-30, and 25-23.
  • Marian was able to stop a pair of BW set points in the first two sets to force extras.
  • The third set saw Marian fight off two set-point chances, but the third time proved to be the charm for Baldwin Wallace.
  • Then against Stevenson, who is receiving votes in the national poll, the Sabres fell 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-12.
  • Marian led most of the opening set until a 6-1 run from Stevenson saw them pull ahead and take the set.
  • Marian was able to pull ahead in the second set and led 23-18 before evening the set.
  • The Sabres opened with an 18-14 advantage and led 22-19 before the Mustangs closed out the set with a 6-1 run.
  • The fourth set was 18-18 before a 6-1 Marian run was able to force a fifth set.
  • Stevenson only trailed once in the final set when Marian scored the first point and were able to hold off the Sabres.
  • The Sabre defense had 13 blocks in the match against Baldwin Wallace, but the Yellow Jackets had 43 kills.
  • Marian had 11 service aces against Stevenson and the back row had 57 digs.
