KANSASVILLE, Wis. – Marian University women’s golf finished in 16th place with a two-round total of 728 and Sabre men’s golf took home a 22nd-place finish after a score of 668 at the Midwest Region Classic.
The Sabre women set a program record in the opening round with a team score of 356 followed by a 372. Ashley Graves led the way for Marian finishing in a tie for 48th after recording an 86 with a 93. The 86 in her first round was he lowest score of any Sabre for the tournament. Kayla Gray and Amber Debolt each finished at 182 with Gray firing a 90 and 92 and Debolt an 88 and 94. The second-round 92 from Gray was the lowest second round score for the Sabres. Morgan Hernandez had a pair of consistent rounds shooting a 92 with a 93, while Zoey Cruz-Eisenbraun carded a 96 with a 105.
Aurora won the event for the women with a 634 behind Kallie Sakamoto who earned medalist honors with a 149.
On the men’s side, John Elsen carded a 76 in his opening round to lead him to a tie for 57th and team leader honors. Michael Cosenza bounced back from an 85 in his opening round to card a 78 in the second, the lowest second round for any Sabre. Jake Mooring finished with an 84 and 87, while Jake Grabarek carded an 89 in both rounds. Luke Bufton shot an 85 in the opening round followed by a 96 to close out the Marian lineup.
North Park led the way with a 593 and were led by Max Golding who shot a 133 to earn medalist recognition.
The Marian men will next travel to the UW-Stout Invite Oct. 2-3, while the women head to the opening rounds of the NACC Championship Oct. 1-2.
