Nurse Camp

Summer Nurse Camp 2024, June 10 – 13 is sponsored by Marian University, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac and in memory of Dr. Ruth Willmington.

The camp will give participants a chance to learn more about the profession of nursing and other health care professions. The camp is open only to high school students graduating in 2025 or 2026 who have not previously attended nurse camp. Any student who participates in nurse camp and later enrolls at Marian will receive a $2000 scholarship for having attended and completed the camp.

➤ Shadow a nurse in a variety of hospital settings at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital – Fond du Lac:

  • Maternity/nursery unit
  • Medical unit
  • Surgical unit
  • Ambulatory Care

➤ Experience and practice a number of nursing skills on the Marian campus, such as CPR, first aid, IV Therapy/injections, sterile techniques, vital signs, infection control

➤ Meet one-on-one with health care professionals and current nursing students.

➤ Tour various units such as cardiac rehab, dialysis, emergency department, intensive care unit, and medical imaging.

  • There will be one session of the Summer Nurse Camp and will be limited to twenty (20) students. Selection of participants will be on a first come, first serve basis. Only high school students graduating in 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply for this camp.  A letter will be sent to those accepted.
  • The summer camp will be held daily Monday through Thursday, June 10 – 13 from 9 am until 3 pm. We cannot provide supervision after that time.
  • No overnight accommodations are provided.
  • The drop-off and pick up point will be at the Marian University – Stayer Center located at 75 S. National Ave.
  • Parents/guardians are reminded that drop-off is 9 am and pick up is promptly at 3 pm.
  • A $50.00 nonrefundable reservation fee will be required upon acceptance to the summer camp. Individuals should not send the camp fee with their application.
  • Lunch will be provided each day.
  • The student needs to be dressed in casual, professional attire. No sandals or shorts.  Comfortable shoes are recommended.  A scrub top will be provided for the experiences when participants are in the hospital.
  • There are health requirements for the shadow experience in the hospital. Further information regarding this will be provided if accepted to the camp.
  • The camp reserves the right to modify the schedule of events, remove certain activities and substitute others, without prior notice due to circumstances beyond its control.
