LISLE, Ill. – Marian University men’s lacrosse (1-6, 0-3 NACC) had a slow start and ultimately fell to Benedictine by a 20-8 final.

  • Benedictine controlled most of the first quarter and scored the first seven goals of the game.
  • The Eagles would ultimately take a 9-1 advantage into the second quarter.
  • Each team had a pair of goals in the second quarter with senior Hayden Powless scoring both Marian goals.
  • This put the Sabres down 11-3 at halftime.
  • Marian would trail 14-5 in the third quarter before Benedictine scored four unanswered to lead 18-5 after three quarters.
  • The Sabres had their best quarter come in the fourth outscoring the Eagles 3-2 with Powless netting another pair of goals, one being a man-up score.
  • Benedictine led in shots by a 49-38 margin and ground balls 47-24.
  • The Eagles had a strong game on face offs as well winning 22 of the 30 draws.
