Marian University field hockey (9-6, 5-3 SAA) fell to Rhodes 2-1 in the SAA Tournament Semifinals to conclude its season.

  • Rhodes opened the scoring at the 12:26 mark but it proved to be the lone score of the opening half.
  • The Lynx extended its lead just 1:39 into the second half with its second goal.
  • The Sabres were able to responded with 11:39 left in the final quarter when sophomore Jikke Biemans scored her 10th goal of the season.
  • Marian outshot Rhodes the rest of the way but couldn’t find an equalizing goal.
  • Marian was outshot 20-13 but the Sabres held a 12-10 advantage for shots on goal. Marian also outshot Rhodes 6-1 in the final 15 minutes of the game.
  • Penalty corners were in favor of they Lynx by a 12-7 margin.
  • Rhodes clinched the season series against Marian with the win after the two squads split match-ups during the regular season.
