The Marian University eSports Valorant team (5-0) swept Dunwoody 13-7, 13-11 in its most competitive match of the season.
MAP 1 – ASCENT
- Marian opened the game on defense and quickly took a 2-0 lead.
- The Hawks were able to bounce back, however, as the game found itself tied at 4-4.
- The Sabres responded answering the first half strong with four straight wins to lead 8-4.
- Marian then took the first two rounds on attack to lead 10-4 only to have Dunwoody cut into that lead with three straight wins.
- The Sabres were able to battle the momentum shift taking three straight rounds to close out the first map.
MAP 2 – BIND
- Starting on attack, Marian jumped ahead quickly taking eight of the first nine rounds.
- Dunwoody was able to keep the game competitive taking the final three rounds to only trail 8-4 at the switch.
- The Hawks continued their momentum taking the first two rounds after the switch to only trail 8-6.
- Marian was able to find its groove taking the next four straight to lead 12-6.
- Dunwoody wouldn’t go away quietly taking five straight to only trail 12-11.
- A defuse from the Sabres gave Marian a win in round 24 to avoid overtime and clinch the sweep.
- Marian had our student-athletes record a combat score of at least 487, two of which were higher than 500.
- The Sabres had 16 plants to go with six defuses.
- Every student-athlete had multiple first eliminations and at least seven assists.
