WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Marian University men’s soccer (1-3-3, 0-0-1 NACC) tied Wisconsin Lutheran 1-1 to open conference play.
- Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out fast on the Sabres and took control early, but it was Marian who found the back of the net first.
- Freshman Micah Boyer opened the scoring at the 31:07 mark with his second goal of the season.
- This 1-0 advantage held all the way into halftime after a more balanced finish to the half.
- The second half saw the script flipped as Marian jumped out fast, but WLC was able to even the score off of a corner kick in the 56th minute.
- Wisconsin Lutheran created more opportunities to close out the game but the Marian defense held on for the draw.
- Wisconsin Lutheran held a 17-7 edge for shots but shots on goal were in favor the Warriors only by a 6-5 margin.
- Corner kicks were nearly equal with WLC having six chances to four for Marian.
- Each team had 14 fouls and a yellow card.
- Marian snapped a three-game losing streak to WLC and now holds a 33-14-2 all-time record against the Warriors.
