RN to MSN

Why This Degree

 

Our streamlined RN to MSN program allows you to choose your track – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Nursing Administration.  Students completing the FNP track are eligible to apply for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) Family Nurse Practitioner certification.  Students completing the Nursing Administration track meet the continuing education requirements to be certified through ANCC and/or AONL (additional hours of experience requirements defined by certifying agency).

Family Nurse Practitioner Track (FNP)

Become an FNP if you are passionate about patient care, thrive on developing long-term patient relationships, and wish to continue making a difference by providing healthcare to people of diverse ages and backgrounds. FNPs have an active role in the lives of their patients.

Family Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice

  • Assess and diagnose acute and chronic health conditions
  • Conduct routine care such as physicals
  • Prescribe medication
  • Provide primary and preventative care
  • Develop treatment plans for acute and chronic illness

Nursing Administration Track (NA)

Become a nurse administrator if you are passionate about advanced leadership positions in healthcare. Professionals have an active role in the executive-level management of their organizations with a wide variety of tasks designed to improve patient outcomes.

A Career in Nursing Administration

  • Oversee operations, uphold regulatory policies, and ensure protocol compliance
  • Lead nursing staff, recruit and terminate, and address personnel issues
  • Professional development, mentoring, training, and performance reviews of nursing staff
  • Manage finances and create budget
  • Liaison between staff, management, interdepartmental staff, and executive team
