CHICAGO – Marian University women’s lacrosse (3-7, 1-0 NACC) defeated Illinois Tech 13-6 in its first NACC game of the season.

  • Marian opened the scoring with a pair of goals before Tech netted a woman-up goal at the 2:26 mark to put the Sabre lead at 2-1.
  • The Sabres ended the first quarter with a pair of goals in the final 57 seconds to spur a dominating finish to the first half for Marian.
  • Entering the second quarter ahead 4-1, the Sabres would shut out the Scarlet Hawks and score five goals of their own to lead 9-1 at halftime.
  • Marian opened the second half with the first three goals scoring a woman-down, woman-up, and even-strength goal.
  • This capped off 10 unanswered goals for the Sabres spanning back to the final minute of the first quarter and put Marian ahead 12-1.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would trail 12-3 at the end of the third quarter scoring a pair of woman-up goals in the final 1:08.
  • The Sabres opened the scoring for the final quarter before Tech would net three unanswered goals to finish the game and settle the final at 13-6.
  • Marian outshot Illinois Tech in three of the four quarters and finished with a 32-24 advantage.
  • The Sabre defense was able to force 28 turnovers and had 12 ground balls.
  • Illinois Tech held a 15-7 edge for draw controls.
