A time to recognize those becoming Marian alumni

The pandemic has caused us to forego some of the related events and limit the number of guests; however, subject to any new restrictions being put in place, we are planning on an in-person ceremony with two guests per graduate.

Spring 2021 Graduation and Commencement Ceremony – Schedule of Events: Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8, 2021*

Friday, May 7

Teacher Commissioning Ceremony

Information regarding this ceremony will be conveyed to undergraduate Education students who have earned initial teaching licenses, and graduate students who have completed the Teacher Education or the Special Education program.

Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Information regarding this ceremony will be conveyed to Nursing graduates directly by the Nursing program.

Saturday, May 8

Commencement Ceremony

12:30 p.m.
Herr-Baker Field Baseball Stadium (rain or shine)

The big event! After robing in the Lenz Center, graduates will process in a socially distanced manner to the Herr-Baker Field Baseball Stadium where they will be seated on the field. At the appropriate time, they will cross the stage and receive their diploma from President Majewski. A professional photographer will capture the moment and another photo will be taken of each graduate with their diploma when they descend from the stage.

*Please note that wristbands will be required for guests to enter the stadium. See below for further details.

RSVP to Graduation events by April 1.

Wristband Policy

Marian University maintains a wristband policy for its outdoor commencement ceremony. Guests will require a wristband to enter the stadium, which opens one hour before the ceremony. Due to State and County guidelines, social distancing will be in effect and graduates will only be able to receive two (2) wristbands initially. Wristbands will be provided in the graduate’s graduation packet. Guests requiring handicapped seating will receive a different color wristband in addition to a ticket for the handicap area in the stadium. Guests without wristbands are invited to bring lawn chairs and sit around the perimeter of the baseball field in a socially distanced manner. For those who prefer a temperature-controlled environment, guests without wristbands can watch a live stream of the ceremony in the Dr. Richard and Leslie Ridenour Science Center. The live ceremony can also be viewed online via a link that will appear on the Marian webpage, www.marianuniversity.edu, on commencement day.

Regalia

The deadline for ordering academic regalia is March 16 if you will pick it up at the April 19 Countdown to Commencement, or April 13 if you will be having your regalia shipped to your home. Please order your regalia via the following link: https://collegegrad.herffjones.com. Doctoral students, however, should order their regalia directly from the Herff Jones representative Rick Hannig at rhsales@twc.com.

Regalia not picked up at Countdown to Commencement may be picked up at the Office of the President after April 19 if home shipping has not been selected. If you have questions, please contact Carey Gardin at 920.923.7617.

International students, i.e. born in another country, holding a valid citizenship in another country or countries, and/or attending Marian on a student visa (F1 or I20), can order an international stole from the Herff Jones website except that Canadian graduates can do so from the Office of the Registrar at 920.923.7618.
