Celebrating Academic Achievements of Our Students

Commencement at Marian University is a time to celebrate the achievements and hard work of our graduates. Held twice a year in December and May, these ceremonies mark the culmination of our students’ experience at Marian and the start of new chapters in their lives. Commencement is Saturday, May 2 at 12:30 p.m.

The big event takes place on the Quad on the Marian University Campus. During the ceremony, each graduate will receive their diploma from President Sadoff. A professional photographer will capture the moment, and another photo will be taken of each graduate with their diploma.

Diplomas will be mailed to the address on file with the Registrar’s Office. Expect delivery 6–8 weeks after final grades are recorded.

Teacher Commissioning Ceremony

Information regarding this ceremony will be conveyed to undergraduate Education students who have earned initial teaching licenses, and graduate students who have completed the Teacher Education or the Special Education program.

Saturday, May 2

Nursing Pinning Ceremony

10 a.m. | Dorcas Chapel

Information regarding this ceremony will be conveyed to Nursing graduates directly by the Nursing program.

Radiologic Technology Pinning Ceremony

10:30 a.m. | Stayer Center Dining Room

Information regarding this ceremony will be conveyed to Radiologic Technology graduates directly by the Radiologic Technology program.

Commencement Ceremony

12:30 p.m. | Marian University Quad

The big event! After robing in the Hornung Student Center, graduates will process to the Quad where they will be seated on the field. At the appropriate time, they will cross the stage and receive their diploma from President Sadoff. A professional photographer will capture the moment and another photo will be taken of each graduate with their diploma when they descend from the stage.

If bad weather heads our way, the President and Cabinet of Marian University will decide 10 days before the ceremony to move it to Sadoff Gymnasium. If moved inside the Commencement ceremony will be split into two ceremonies. The split will be determined based on the program you are graduating with.

Regalia

The deadline for ordering academic regalia is March 18 for pick up at the April Countdown to Commencement or April 4th for shipped home delivery. Please order your regalia via the following link: https://collegegrad.herffjones.com.

Regalia not picked up at Countdown to Commencement may be picked up at Sabre Central if home shipping has not been selected. If you have questions, please contact Brooke Spanbauer at 920.923.8643.

International students, i.e. born in another country, holding a valid citizenship in another country or countries, and/or attending Marian on a student visa (F1 or I20), can order an international stole from the Herff Jones website.

Graduates who have participated in a study abroad program can order a “global studies” medallion from the following website: https://www.graduation-stoles.com/product/international-study-abroad-medallion/.

Wristband Policy

Marian University maintains a wristband policy for its outdoor and indoor commencement ceremony. All guests attending will require a wristband no matter the location. Wristbands will be provided in the graduate’s graduation packet.

For those who prefer a temperature-controlled environment, guests without wristbands can watch a live stream of the ceremony in the Stayer Center Auditorium (Ridenour Science Center if ceremony is moved indoors). The live ceremony can also be viewed online via a link that will appear on the top of this webpage, an hour before the ceremony begins.
