Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Sports Information
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Director of Athletics
FLSA: Exempt

 

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by, assisting the Athletic Communications Director with publicity efforts for the University’s 15 sponsored athletic programs. This position will maintain compliance of Marian University, Northern Athletics Conference, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position will serve for two consecutive years under a twelve-month term of appointment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Update and manage the university’s athletic website (www.SabreAthletics.com).
  2. Assist with design of athletic publications.
  3. Compile team statistics and records.
  4. Compile in-game statistics.
  5. Report results to local, regional, and hometown media.
  6. Assist with game operations.
  7. Additional significant duties will be assigned (based on qualifications and departmental need)

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other work related duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  1. Acceptance into a Marian University Master’s degree program.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required. 2 years of experience in intercollegiate athletic communications/sports information work.
  3. Knowledge or willingness to learn Stat Crew, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
  4. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations.
  5. Must have willingness to work nights and weekends.
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  7. Valid driver’s license is required and register as a University driver.
  8. Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
