Students, faculty and staff may obtain materials that are not in the Cardinal Meyer Library collection via interlibrary loan. Interlibrary loan requests for a book may be submitted 24/7 from any location via WorldCat, without having to contact the library.

  • WorldCat is the OCLC union catalog. Described as the “Window to the world’s libraries,” WorldCat contains bibliographic and holdings information for the collections of more than 9,000 libraries throughout the world. Books and journals listed in WorldCat may be available through interlibrary loan.

To place an interlibrary loan, a search for an item must be conducted in WorldCat.  Below is an example search for the book “Of Mice and Men”:

If an item has “Marian University” indicated in the bibliographic citation, the item is owned by the Cardinal Meyer Library and may not be interlibrary-loaned via WorldCat.  Special services for outreach students and faculty.

When an item is located that does not have “Marian University” in the bibliographic citation, it may be interlibrary-loaned. Click on the item title to display the holdings information:


To place an interlibrary loan for any item not owned by the Cardinal Meyer Library, click on the link  clip_image012.png.  Fill out the form displayed in full.  The citation information for the item being requested is automatically entered on the form for you.  The barcode number from your library card is required.

Once the form has been filled out in full, hit the submit button.  The interlibrary loan request will be submitted via email to the Interlibrary Loan staff at the Cardinal Meyer Library.  You will be contacted via email or phone when the request has been filled and the item has arrived at the library.

***Note: Interlibrary Loan materials coming from Wisconsin libraries usually arrive within a week.  Please place interlibrary loan requests accordingly.
