What is a strengths based campus?
Marian University prides itself on being a strengths based campus to inspire students, faculty and staff to achieve success and foster well-being.
Based on the research and developmental strengths-base philosophy of Gallup, Inc., the Marian community believes in and focuses on each person's strengths -- or talents.
Upon a student's arrival to campus, they will take the Gallup Strengths Survey in which results identify talents or success patterns (strengths). Students begin their Marian career by learning about their strengths in the First Year Seminar course (GEN 101), where projects, activities and information help each student grow and build their strengths in:
- Cultivating positive relationships
- Career planning
Faculty and staff have also taken the survey and meet together as departments to foster positive and efficient working environments and processes. Being able to inspire and connect with Marian students from a perspective of "strength" is what sets Marian apart.
