Marian University biology major Breann Wenzel was recently awarded an Experiential Learning Grant through the Office of Academic Affairs to attend Microbe, a conference hosted by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).
A member of ASM since 2016, Wenzel shared research done by Marian’s microbiology lab at the conference. ASM helps find solutions to public health issues by strengthening laboratory practices and advocating for evidence-based scientific practice.
“I attended scientific sessions, learned in the creative environment organized by ASM, improved my professional development, and networked with students with similar interests and goals,” said Wenzel. “I greatly appreciated having Marian support my scientific and professional growth.”
Marian’s Experiential Learning Grants Program enables students to develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting.
