DULUTH, Minn. – Sophomore goalie Hunter Vorva has been named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season announced the league office Tuesday.
Vorva allowed just four goals combined in the three games with 23 saves against Northland, 19 against then-ranked No. 15 St. Scholastica and 23 more against Eau Claire Sunday for a total of 65 on the week. The Kalamazoo, Mich. native closed out the weekend with a 1.33 goals-against average to go with a .942 save percentage, while also leading the penalty-kill unit to a 14-of-15 success rate in the trio of contests. Vorva ranks second in the NCHA with 14 wins on the season along with a 2.10 goals against average that puts him fifth in the conference.
