Senior Alonso Fragoso (Cicero, Ill.) had another great year to close out his career being named All-NACC first team. Fragoso led the nation with 23 goals and 53 points, while also adding seven assists. Fragoso had seven multi-goal games and also had six games where he recorded five or more points. During the year, he was named the NACC Player of the Week twice. He also netted the game-winning goal against Beloit, MacMurray and Rockford in double overtime. Fragoso closes out his career with the most goals and points from any Sabre in Marian men’s soccer history.
Junior Ian Chacon (Cicero, Ill.) earns All-NACC recognition for the second time in his career being named to the All-NACC second team. Chacon started in 18 games and compiled a record of 10-7-0. The Sabre keeper ranked third in the NACC with a 1.28 goals against average and 87 saves on the season. He also posted five shutouts on the season to rank atop the NACC. Chacon made eight or more saves in four games this season including an 11-save performance against Wisconsin Lutheran as the Sabres defeated the Warriors 3-1 at home.
Senior Grant Meerdink (Oostburg, Wis.) led the Sabre back line and closes out his Sabre career being named All-NACC honorable mention. Meerdink started in all 19 games this year for the Sabres and was all over the pitch each and every game. The defenseman recorded an assist in the 2-0 win against Beloit for his first career point as a Sabre. Meerdink also served as a team captain for the team and was a leader on and off the field.
