DULUTH, Minn. – Senior Lindsey Strainis of Marian University women’s hockey was named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after a pair of impressive performances over the weekend in non-conference action.
Strainis opened the weekend with a 28-save performance against Saint Benedict as the Sabres dropped a tough 2-1 overtime game. She then bounced back against Saint Mary’s (Minn.) to lead the Sabres to a tie behind a 37-save performance, her eighth performance of more than 30 saves this season. Strainis closed out the weekend with a .956 save percentage to go with a 1.41 goals against average.
This is the first time Strainis has been named the player of the week this season and is the eighth time in her career she has earned the award.
