Slow start costly for Sabre women’s basketball in 85-52 loss to Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Marian University women’s basketball (0-2, 0-0 NACC) fell to Lake Forest in non-conference action by a final of 85-52.

The Sabres had a strong opening quarter on the offensive end scoring 14 points off of 4-10 (.400) shooting but the Foresters would take a 24-14 lead at the first break.  LFC was able to expand on that lead in the second quarter outscoring Marian 26-7.  The Sabre offense had another tough quarter in the third only managing nine points but MU was able to close out the game strong.

In the fourth quarter, each team managed to score 22 points with Marian going 3-7 (.429) from beyond the arc.  Sophomore Julianne Adams and freshman Claire Levendoski each had six points in the quarter with Adams also grabbing four rebounds.

Levendoski finished the game with a team-high 13 points, while Adams finished with four boards.  Freshman Madison Holdiman also had five rebounds in the defeat.

Marian closes out a three-game road trip to open the season at Mount Mary Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
