The Marian University men’s golf team shot a 305 to finish in a tie for first while the women shot a 456 to finish in fourth to close out their home spring invite.
The Sabre men finished in a tie against Concordia Wisconsin atop the team leaderboard with a 611 two-day total but the Falcons were able to top the Sabres with a tiebreaker.
Jake Sherwood shot even par for the second round to finish three-over par and win the individual title. Maxwell Dye shot a 76 for the second consecutive day to finish in a tie for fourth at eight-over par with Caleb Martin at 152. Tyler Demeuse closed out the scoring for the Sabres’ top team finishing in a tie for ninth with Aaron Rick who led the second Marian squad.
OJ Garcia finished 13th overall, second on the second Marian team, at 164 with Kyle Doyle rounding out the top Marian team at 166, 14th overall. Jake Bell, Alex Rambaud and Jarryd Gano were all one shot apart from each other scoring a 170, 171, and 172, respectively, to close out the “B” team.
James Mathias finished in 15th overall to lead the third Marian team with a 169. Lane Valimont was next in for the final Marian team at 176 with Michael Cosenza just three shots behind him at 179. Paul Kinder and Tyler Buerman closed out the Marian roster with a 188 and 204, respectively.
On the women’s side, Alyssa Elko of UW-Platteville earned the individual title with St. Norbert earning the team title by four strokes over UWP.
Tayler Wise led the Sabres shooting just one stroke off of her first round pace to finish in 11th at 195. Allison Grosenick was next in for the Sabres with a 239 and Shelby Davidson was just one shot behind her. Sydney Clark rounded out the Marian lineup shooting a 243.
The Marian men will next head to the WLC Spring Invite from Morningstar Golf Club, while the women travel to Ledgeview Golf Course to take on St. Norbert in the Catholic Cup.
