JANESVILLE, Wis. – Marian University men’s golf shot a team score of 319 at the second round of the Culver’s Edgewood Invite to finish their season opening meet in eighth.
Webster trimmed off seven shots from their opening round to win the meet with a team score of 593. Will Hocker led the Gorloks with a two-day total of two-over par to earn the individual title.
Jake Sherwood led the way for the Sabres finishing in a tie for 14th after a second round score of 77. Maxwell Dye finished tied for 23rd after shooting a 79 in the second round with Christian Taylor one shot behind him in a tie for 26th. Aaron Rick and AJ Rambaud closed out the first team of Sabres shooting a 91 and 86, respectively.
James Mathias and Matty Taylor each saw improvement from their first round scores for the second Sabre team. Mathias led Marian with an 85 and Taylor was one shot off of his pace with an 86. Chris Stephens and Kyle Doyle each shot an 87 for the second round with Jake Howie closing out all Sabres with a 96.
Marian next travels to Blackberry Oaks Golf Course for the Aurora Invite Tuesday, Sept. 5.
