WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Marian University women’s soccer team has been picked eighth in the NACC preseason poll, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sport information directors, announced the conference office Wednesday.
Milwaukee School of Engineering was picked to win the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference women’s soccer championship according to the preseason poll after capturing the NACC title last year with a perfect 10-0 record in league play (17-4-1 overall). The Raiders also earned a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with back-to-back NACC Tournament titles.
MSOE received 14 of 22 first-place votes and 226 points in the preseason poll.
Dominican University was second with 209 points and four top votes, Aurora University was third with 186 points and two first-place votes, while Edgewood College was fourth with 169 points.
Concordia University Wisconsin was fifth with 164 points and a pair of top nods, Benedictine University was sixth with 145 points, Concordia University Chicago was seventh with 125 and Marian University eighth with 91.
Wisconsin Lutheran College (59), Alverno College (44) and Lakeland University (34) rounded out the final three spots in the poll.
The NACC’s regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
