ASHLAND, Wis. – Another shutdown performance from the Marian University women’s soccer (2-0-0, 0-0-0 NACC) defense led the Sabres to a 2-0 victory against Northland.
Freshman Reilly Louko found the back of the net on a penalty kick to open the scoring and a goal from freshman Shannon Couglin, assist to junior Alexis Peterson, in the 53rd minute was all the Sabres would need.
The Sabre defense was the story of the game as Marian outshot Northland 14-3 with only one LumberJill shot reaching junior goalkeeper Danielle Deltgen (2-0-0) who posted her second consecutive shutout in as many days. A total of 10 different Sabres sent a shot in the win led by Coughlin who had a game-high three shots, all three on frame.
Marian opens the home portion of their schedule Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m. from Smith Field when the Sabres take on Ripon.
