September 16, 2019
GALESBURG, Ill. – Marian University women’s soccer (1-4-0, 0-0-0 NACC) dropped their first road match of the season falling at Knox by a 3-1 final.
Only one shot would find the back of the net in the opening stanza when the Prairie Fire were able to go ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute. It wasn’t until the 71st minute when Knox added on to their lead at 2-0. Freshman Jenae Balken then tallied her first-career goal 31 seconds after the second Knox goal to put Marian on the board.
Knox was able to close out the game with a goal in the 87th minute and set the final at 3-1.
Sophomore Kylie Lange (1-4-0) had a busy day in goal for the Sabres making 11 saves with seven of her stops coming in the second half. Offensively, four different Sabres recorded a shot.
Marian looks to snap their four-game skid traveling to Maranatha Baptist for a 4 p.m. kick-off Tuesday, Sept. 17.
