MILWAUKEE – Marian University women’s soccer (7-8-0, 3-4-0 NACC) used a second half surge to defeat Wisconsin Lutheran 2-0 in a NACC road win.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the opening half but the Marian offense managed to outshoot WLC 7-5. The Sabres were able to strike first in the 65th minute when junior Karissa Preston was able to take advantage of a WLC defensive miscue for her third goal of the year.
Marian continued to apply pressure to the WLC defense. Just 56-seconds after coming into the game, freshman Shannon Coughlin was able to head in a goal to the right post in the 87th minute. Coughlin was assisted by junior Alexis Peterson to help seal the crucial road win.
Marian finished with a 19-13 advantage in shots led by Preston who had four. Four different Sabres managed to record multiple shots in the win. Junior Danielle Deltgen (5-4-0) continued her streaky play in goal for Marian stopping all four shots sent her way.
Marian returns home to host Benedictine at noon Saturday, Oct. 21.
