GENEVA, Ill. – Marian University women’s hockey (4-16-1, 2-9-1 NCHA) outshot the Spartans but fell 3-1 in their final road game of the season.

Game two of the series between the Sabres and Spartans was eerily similar to the opener as Aurora once again scored in all three periods leading to the sweep.  The Sabres were able to tie the game at 1-1 at the 15:58 mark of the opening period when senior Morgan Bolin lit the lamp with the Sabres on a 5-on-3 power play.  The goal was her 11th on the season and she was assisted by the defense pair of freshman Kristen Bisschop and senior Hannah Koniar.

Marian had a strong game offensively sparked by a 13-5 advantage in shots in the opening period.  The Sabres closed out the game with a 37-32 advantage in shots led by seven shots from Bolin.  Senior Molly Gross (1-5-0) made 29 stops with 16 of her saves coming in the second period.

The Sabre penalty kill was able to hold the Spartans scoreless on three power plays.

Marian returns home hosting Lake Forest Friday, Feb. 14 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
