Sabre women’s hockey falls to St. Catherine 6-1

Marian University women’s hockey (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHA) outshot St. Catherine 30-29 but fell to the Wildcats by a 6-1 final.
The Wildcats opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first period as they went on to outshoot Marian 10-7 in the first stanza. Senior Morgan Bolin then cut the Sabre deficit in half to open the second-period scoring. Bolin scored at the 11:52 mark and was assisted by freshman Brooke Anderson.
St. Catherine had an answer scoring three goals in a span of 3:11 to close out the second period. The Wildcats added one final goal at the 5:16 mark of the third period to close out the 6-1 final.
Bolin and freshman McKenna Krosch each had five shots on goal in the defeat. Along with an assist, Anderson had a strong game in the faceoff circle winning 22 of her 37 draws.
In goal, senior Molly Gross (0-1-0) made 23 saves in her first career start.
Marian opens NCHA play at home against Adrian Nov. 15-16 with the opener set for 5 p.m. and the finale at 4 p.m.
