GENEVA, Ill. – Marian University women’s hockey (4-15-1, 2-8-1 NCHA) dropped the opener of their final road series of the season at Aurora by a 3-1 final.
The Spartans were able to score one goal in all three periods en route to the victory. Freshman Jade Williams was able to tie the game at 1-1 with her first career goal at the 8:35 mark of the second period. Fellow freshman Kristen Bisschop assisted the goal for her first collegiate point.
The Sabre penalty kill was able to hold the Spartans scoreless on four power-play opportunities.
Marian was outshot in the game by a 52-31 margin with senior Maggie Cusey (3-8-1) stopping 49 shots with 20 of her saves coming in the first period.
Marian concludes the series at Aurora tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 8, with puck drop scheduled for 3 p.m.
